Macandelas has returned to Havana with one of its "biographical" staging, another story of life: the Colombian writer and philosopher Fernando Gonzalez, one of the most outstanding and controversial thinkers of all America. The life and work of the character converges in a high poetic-sense staging: “Fernando Gonzalez. Metaphysical evening”. We are told about the man and his legacy without a prejudice that at first glance may disconcert. But the clear intention of entertainment, the desire to demystify provide a lucid distancing allowing to assimilate the essence of an ideology openly rebellious, provocative and visionary. As with other proposals from the iconic Colombian group, there are no cracks between texts and staging: the text literary strength finds in the play its own visual and sound nature. The speech flows as if there were complicity with the audience, tough it has a well-defined plan. The intention of estrangement and games of imagination are notable. However, the show convinces due to its credibility and organization: the cast, rather than acting, seems to live it. Matacandelas is theater of dialogue, not given to concessions.
