The Collective Matacandelas Theater Association is a nonprofit organization created at 1979. In the year 1991, Matacandelas gets the status of Cultural Heritage of the Medellín City. During its 30 years of life 50 plays have been produced, 12 among those 45 are classified as Puppet Theater.

Right now, Matacandelas Theater has 17 plays in its repertory.
